Literature Text

I am Alice
Down the rabbit hole I went,
When I fell in love with you.
I risked my mental health
To be the one you wanted most.
And it worked
Like a charmed potion
That swelled my ego and
Sprung my height above the world.

I am Alice.
And I want you to paint all my white roses red
The passion of your love
Making my flowery mind blush
With pleasure and relief.

I am Alice.
And I want your eyes to see me
And your grin to keep me
And your head off to one side
Of my heart.
You beast.

I am Alice
And my mind demands attention
From those that would see my body
Flat like the deck of cards.
Ace of hearts, bring me my pink flamingos
And I shall croquet by your side
And crochet the sweaters of little dogs
That end up chasing their tales
Across time.

I am Alice
Where is my mind
Where is the mirror that I saw through a smokescreen
Where is the peyote that turned me small
Where is the guru caterpillar on his throne of toadstool
Where is the waving oceans of Wonderland where I belong

I am Alice
And I will tell the tweedles and the walrus and the carpenter and the march hare
That the hatter with his mad hat sent me to find you
And bring you with me into my twisted fantasy
Where you must feed your head on your unveiled unbirthday
As told by the dormouse living in a seafoam green teapot with pink roses and blue buds painted upon the china

I am Alice
And I ask you to take my hand
To jump
Into my madness with me
So you know the strength of my love
For your mind
Which so happens to be in Fiji at the moment but will return by Christmas

I am Alice.
Alice; just one letter from Alive.
A silly poem I wrote under the influence of Lewis Carroll and Gregory Maguire. Don't ask. :D
